COCKER SPANIEL
While bold and eager to work, the cocker spaniel is suited to life as either a gundog or a household pet. They are respectful of their master’s authority without much challenge. Cockers are known to be merry and endearing, a happy tail-wagger, gentle and trusting, with average intelligence. They are lively, playful and devoted, but should be socialized well when they are young to avoid a tendency for shyness. Usually good with children, cockers love everyone and need people to be happy. They are mostly easy to train and get along well with other animals. Even though they are the smallest members of the sporting group, they are capable of considerable speed and endurance. Their personality is free and cheerful and the animal is sound and well balanced overall. Then in action they show a keen tendency to work.
